Common objections to equal rights to life

You cannot criminalize women who have abortions.

Criminalizing abortion means criminalizing the act of killing unborn children, not criminalizing women. This means that anyone who kills an unborn child is legally responsible for the crime, regardless of whether they are the principal, accomplice or accessory to the act. Criminalizing abortion is not equivalent to criminalizing mothers, but it allows for their prosecution. After all, no one should have the right to kill an unborn baby, not even the child's mother. If the fetus is really a person, then how can the woman not be responsible?

When does life begin?

The substance of the dispute

In the debate between the pro-choice and pro-life positions, there is one clear barrier that arises from the question: When does life begin? The disagreement between the two groups can come down to the answer to this one question.

The pro-life group opposes abortion on the grounds that abortion constitutes murder. In contrast, the pro-choice movement requires denying the humanity of the fetus, hence denying the charge of murder.

It is time to follow the Bible even at the risk of being branded

Since 1973, Americans have killed over 63 million babies. It took the Protestant denominations nearly a decade to figure out what was going on—and when they did, a strategy called "incrementalism" was adopted.

Heartbeat laws, for example, prohibit abortions for babies with a beating heart. The Protection of Live Birth Acts prevent abortionists from killing babies if they survive abortion attempts. Actions causing pain prohibit the abortion of babies who are old enough to feel pain.

Foster Care: Our Christian Responsibility

I was a police officer in my previous life. I was often called to people's homes on the worst days of their lives. Sometimes we went regularly to the same homes. I remember one incident where we were contacted by a neighbor who called because of the sounds of a fight next door. We arrived and knocked, identifying ourselves as police.

The door was locked, but a child came to the window and looked through the blinds. An old man angrily called the child away from the window. In the end we had to kick in the door.

Inside we found a man with bloody knuckles, a woman with a split lip and missing teeth, and a six-year-old girl. We arrested the girl's father and took her mother to the hospital. I gave the girl a purple stuffed walrus; she was happy about it.

In this case, the girl's mother was able to return home after receiving medical attention. She called us a few days later because she had found her boyfriend's gun in the little girl's toy box. He had hidden it when we got to the door because he was a felon and didn't want to be charged with possession of a firearm.

What does the Bible say about abortion?

It may surprise some to learn that there are a significant number of professing believers who would call themselves pro-choice. Not surprisingly, the group has rather weak biblical support for this position.

When teaching, it is often helpful to point out a counterexample and show why that example is wrong. In this article, we will look at several statements made by those who claim to be both Christian and pro-choice. Ultimately, answering the question "what does the Bible say about abortion?"

What is premarital sex?

In a stratified civilization, many cultures are formed - and they all have their own norms and taboos. Therefore, the question of sexuality must be addressed by every culture.

Of course, thinking about sex right implies that there is also a way to think about it wrongly. If there is right and wrong, then sex must at least involve a moral issue.

Sexual relations involve more than just physical action – although many non-Christians try to pretend otherwise. For example, sex and relationships are a factor in a large proportion of violent crimes because strong emotions are involved.

For-Life the definition has changed

The definition of pro-life has changed dramatically since its inception. The pro-abortion side chose the term "pro-choice" because it seems more sympathetic than "pro-abortion."

The opposition chose the term "for life". It's easier to get support for a cause you're for rather than against. So they rejected the "anti-abortion" title.

Although "anti-abortion" is an accurate description for a group centered on the belief that all abortions are wrong in all cases, the modern anti-abortion movement has also adopted the term "abolitionist". This reflects the broad nature of his advocacy goals and his ties to the nineteenth-century movement to abolish and prohibit slavery in the United States—which, like abortion, was a widespread cultural evil.

What is the meaning of life?

The biggest question in life

Often when discussing the concept of philosophy, sooner or later someone in the discussion will raise the most important of all questions: What is the meaning of life?

This is partly done as a joke. In Douglas Adams' The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the characters find themselves on a quest to discover the answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything. Ultimately, the answer they arrive at is “42”.

Although Adams satirizes the concept of trying to decipher the meaning of life, the subject requires serious consideration. The question is valid because the answer has many implications for one's life.

The Bible and science do not contradict each other

The Bible supports and confirms modern science on a vast number of subjects and is far from being a book of fantasy or myth. The descriptions that the Bible gives on the following scientific topics are details that the writers many thousands of years ago could not have known for themselves or confirmed with the technology available in their day and only recently, centuries later, have they been confirmed and validated by modern science.

PHYSICS

The biblical account of creation includes all the known scientific elements: time, space, matter and energy.

These elements are reflected in the following descriptions: Time - "In the beginning..."; Cosmos - "God created the heavens..."; Matter - "...and the earth."; Energy - "Then God said, 'Let there be light.'

-Genesis 1:1-3

"1. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

2. And the earth was desolate and without structure, and darkness was upon the deep, and the Spirit of God hovered over the waters.

3. And God said: Let there be light! And there was light.”
