When we start another year, the prospect of goal setting may seem daunting. Many things are fighting for our time and attention. We feel attracted in many directions given our current challenges, requirements and responsibilities. The past year has shaken the determination of many. That is why it is important not only to reflect on the determination of the giants in the faith who came before us, but also on the determination of God himself.
Surely, we can draw encouragement from the faithful saints of the long past and praise them for their zeal in the face of great opposition. But before embarking on the journey of the Christian life for another year that God has graciously given, let us reflect diligently on God's determination.
God's determination has never been questioned, not even for a moment. It has never been shaken. He will not be hindered by circumstances in establishing his will and goals in the world. He is determined, determined, and zealous to advance in his Kingdom and to build his Church. It is in this confidence that we can move forward and take the victory. Even if our resolve fails, as so often happens, we find solace in God's determination to realize the wisdom of His counsel in the continual sanctification of all things, including us who believe. He will glorify His Name. He will receive the glory he deserves. He will subdue his enemies. He will put the opponent of abortion under his feet. The Lord Jesus is the one who is given as the Head above all to the church, and therefore our partnership with Him in the reconciliation of all things must push every fatigue of our spirit forward through the finish line.
The decision of our God is untenable. Nothing will stop his irresistible power from leading to the destruction of Satan's works and the abolition of the curse. As we serve before the pits of death, bring to reality the sacrifices of children in the public square, and demand that our nation repent and do justice to the unborn, let us not neglect to consider the decision of our Lord, Who gives us victory in all things. He is unmistakably committed to upholding the holiness of His name in showing His manifold wisdom through His Church. He will not allow you or me to drag His Name through the mud. In his infinitely wise counsel, he has already taken into account all our many failures, and none of them is strong enough to thwart the intention of his goals to be achieved. We can't lose. So let's be determined. If the Lord who saved us is resolute in his insistence, how can we who claim to know him and wave his flag not fulfill our obligations?
Romans 12:11
"Do not be lazy in zeal, be zealous in spirit, serve the Lord"
