It is a very common idea among most Christians today that the Christian faith is only about "winning souls" for heaven one day. This is a widespread notion that has led to the view of culture as a tertiary matter or even from the standpoint of apathy by these same people. Indifference to cultural decline has peaked. We hear that as Christians, we should not seek to impose our values on society. But aren't we explicitly instructed by our Creator to do just that?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Matthew 28: 18\u201320<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201e18<\/sup><\/strong> <\/sup><\/strong>And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 19<\/sup><\/strong> <\/sup><\/strong>Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 20 <\/sup><\/strong>teaching them to keep all that I have commanded you; and, behold, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. [Amen]. "<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n After these words were uttered, our Lord ascended and took His place at the right hand of the Majesty in the Heights, signaling His victory and the beginning of His reign over all things in heaven and on earth. Our commandments are that we must teach nations to obey Him and His Word. To be clear, this does not happen through coercion, but only through the reception of the gospel through the Spirit in the hearts. This is done by preaching the call to sinners to repent and obey the word of the King. Our message may not be political, but it has implications for the moral, legal and political spheres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Given the withdrawal of Christians from culture and the public square, the lack of biblical testimony is felt most strongly in our failure to oppose the slaughter of the unborn innocent in our land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The prevailing view of history is that there was once a giant explosion and everything came spontaneously out of nowhere. But if everything came from nothing, then it only follows that everything can become something else. Here we see the framework for a radical redefinition of marriage, gender and life by raising the absolute freedom of the human will. In the case of abortion, it is said that life does not begin with conception, but at some other random time, whether it is the first heart attack, measurable brain activity or even exit from the womb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n With one voice, our society has revealed its paramount moral value in absolute freedom of choice. When abortion-minded people are confronted with their love of death, the protection offered by them and others on their behalf is that "it is her choice," as if a person's freedom of choice is outside the moral direction of God's authoritative Word. . But this is the predominant idol today. This is submission to the will of God rather than to God's will. It is a deep-rooted belief that whatever I choose is my work on the measuring rod of a transcendent standard. The right to choose has become a god. The position of choice is inherently religious, regardless of the professions (or lack thereof) of its adherents. Only this religious position is that in which man, not God, decides who lives and who dies, exercising what he believes is his own sovereign hand of predestination. But death is the result of this philosophy, not life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The love of death that is spreading in society today in the form of legalized abortion owes its power to this chosen idol. The unbridled desire to redefine reality may be able to take what it wants at will, but one thing it will not do is submit to any all-encompassing, transcendent authority. So where the efforts of society and government must be directed to the protection of unborn lives, they have been perversely redirected to isolating the masses from all obligations to God. We are told that people should be free to direct the course of their own lives without the intervention of God's Word. They can then choose from a variety of options, none of which are right or wrong, because they all have an inherent quality of righteousness, as long as they stem from undeniable freedom of choice. The freedom to destroy a child is seen and presented as just another morally indifferent option in self-worship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Our course of action in opposing this repackaged autonomy is to bring God's Word into the hearts and minds of those who believe that their "choice" is beyond the authority of God's revelation. Their choice, however, is not morally neutral. They take on the role of God in the taking of life and seek to usurp the deserved place of Christ on the throne of their hearts as they cling to their idol, which is simply the reflection they see in the mirror. They believe that they can be gods, creatively constructing reality for themselves as the ultimate expression of their will.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We must live by revelation, not by what abortionists today call for autonomous self-government. They are the sons and daughters of Babylon who seek to "make a name for themselves" by establishing their own authority and self-deification. By refusing to fill the earth and multiply, they build a false external oneness with others who practice abortion because of the inner alienation from God they feel because of their sin. Full control and governance is their savior, illustrated in the sovereign state's demand to protect their sacred right. So, in the fight against state-sponsored abortions, Christians must realize that if child sacrifice is ever to be stopped, we must confront the false chosen god. Believers must call the apostate hearts to the true unity of the Triune God, where true peace can be found. As ambassadors of our God and King, we are empowered to convey this message of reconciliation by begging people who want to have an abortion to be reconciled to God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
